Office Policy

Retention
Retention is that period after the appliances are removed and retainers (usually plastic removable plates) are placed. Included in the fee of treatment are 1 set of retainers and adjustments and observation for 6 month after placement. Lost retainers are replaced at office and laboratory costs paid by the patient. Broken retainers can usually be repaired for less cost than a new replacement. Monitoring a patient's retention phase of treatment is extremely important and we want to stress the need to be seen every year.
Estimated time of treatment
Please remember there is no way we can predict exact the length of treatment. Based on Dr. Yury Geylikman over 25 years of experience, we can estimate only. Unforeseen problems sometimes occur. A patient may have slow moving teeth and sometimes this happens despite full cooperation. Growth may be favorable or unfavorable. Some patients do not fully cooperate and progress may be delayed. This could include failure to wear headgears, elastics or bite plates as instructed. It may be due to frequently missed or cancelled appointments, poor oral hygiene, too many loose bands, broken wires and things of that sort. It should be understood that we expect and must have full cooperation from our patients and parents or guardians. Otherwise, the case may result in failure or it may even be necessary to discontinue treatment.
